Anecdotes from the past

Sorry its been so long since I’ve written.

Ridden? Written? Sounds the same. One of them I’ve been doing a lot.

Actually, its been so long since I’ve posted. I’ve been writing this whole time, its just not for the public eye. Such a weird time in the world and my rantings on moto adventures aren’t really in season.

But I was reminded of a funny story the other day, and I thought I’d share it with you. The whole reason I got into blogging in the first place was because I tell people stories of my adventures one on one, and the response is similar: “๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ omg that is such a good story! You should be a writer lol” but then when I sit down and start typing…… it turns into a book no one wants to read.

(Much like this intro)

So this story is copied, pasted and lightly edited from an instagram DM. Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

The Story of #softhands

Okay: so I grew up on the east coast, never met anyone famous, and started following all these ig people just because they ride. I didn’t reeeally grow up riding, so kinda sortaโ€ฆ I got into riding bc of Instagram, and the people I met on here. Boom, I moved to the west. All of a sudden all these @’s start becoming human faces I get to meet and talk to IN REAL LIFE. ๐Ÿคฏ

Eric hall from xladv. Steve Kamrad, Spencer Hill, Josh Jones and Emily Phelan, Rob Dabney, a bazillion of these other uber famous people I got to meet. Well, a couple of my ADV heroes ended up on the Revit! Women’s Adventure team, and then they went to the ktm rally in Park City, Utah in 2018. I got to meet them, it was awesome. Theyre all amazing humans. I consider one of them to be one of my best friends on the planet. Legit, she knows too much ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well, I met them, but they were busy doing photo shoots and Revit! PR stuff, so I made some friends and off we went into the Park City wilderness to show them why my Triumph Tiger was 10000x better than their stupid 1090r ‘s (slight exaggeration. Very slight)

Then out of nowhereโ€ฆ parked on the side of the trail in the middle of nowhere, we come across a little group of cuties, all dressed in marching Revit! gear.

So naaaaaturally, we stop ๐Ÿ˜ who wouldn’t? ๐Ÿ˜

Turns out, they were scoping out one of the dirtbikes they were renting, because SOMEHOW, this happend:

๐Ÿคฃ whoops. The comment section on Jenna’s post is hilarious. Photo by Julia LaPalme

So of course, eager to be helpful (not to mention show off all these stupid little gadgets we haaaad to buy for adventure riding) out comes 4 or 5 sets of tool rolls from our bikes

The bike was fine. Took longer to figure out how to get the seat off the bike than it did to double check everything. Crisis averted, we all started packing up, but not before someone noticed that I had a set of latex gloves in my tool kitโ€ฆ.

And theyre all like “maaaaaaaaatt ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” why do you have a set of rubber gloves in your tool kit?”

I couldn’t think of the words “to keep the oil and grease off my hands while I work on chains and engine parts and shit so my moto gloves dont get gross”

I could only say “to keep my hands soft while i work on my bike” ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

…My name to all of the Revit! Womens Adventure Team is now “soft hands”

For the record. Not a single one of them were interested in seeing how soft my hands actually were.

Were? Are? I dunno. The gloves eventually disappeared, much like my tool rolls have a habit of doing. But thats another story for another day.

That weekend was full of fun little adventures, including dodging rogue trailer tires, camping in psychotown, and overly spicy sushi.

Everything is canceled. So there’s only 2 things we can really do until stuff starts opening back up: plan for the future, and reflect on past adventures.

I have more of these little stories I’ll try to share more often.. I have most of one story I could share, but like I said, its a damn book.

Oh! Check this thing out:
